1.    What is the wavelength of a 68 Hz sound wave traveling at 340 meters per second?

Solution

Data : f = 68 Hz

           V = 340 m/s

Question : λ = ….?

Answer :

λ = v/f = 340 m/s : 68 Hz = 5 m

 

2.    What is the wavelength of a 100 Hz sound wave traveling at 330 meters per second?

Solution

Data : f = 100 Hz

           V = 330 m/s

Question : λ = ….?

Answer :

λ = v/f = 330 m/s : 100 Hz = 3.3 m

 

3.    What is the wavelength of a 150 Hz sound wave travelling at 340 meters per second?

Solution

Data : f = 15000 Hz

           V = 340 m/s

Question : λ = ….?

Answer :

λ = v/f =  340 m/s : 150Hz = 2.27 m

 

4.    Calculate the speed of sound in water with a frequency of 500 Hz and a wavelength of 1.5 meters.

Solution

Data : f = 500 Hz

           λ = 1.5 m

Answer :

V = λf = 1.5 m x 500 Hz = 750 m/s

 

5.    Calculate the speed of sound in liquid with a frequency of 400 Hz and a wavelength of 3.6 meters.

Answer :

 λ = v/f =1440 m/s : 400 Hz = 3.6 m

 

7.    Calculate the frequency of sound with a wavelength of 10 m traveling at a speed of 330 m/s.

Solution

           λ = 10 m

Answer :

f = v/ λ = 330 m/s : 10 m = 33 Hz

8. The sound of lightning is heard by Pio 5 seconds after the lightning. If the speed of sound in air is 340 m/s, calculate the distance between the lightning and Pio.

d = vxt = 340 m/s x  5 s = 1700 m
